This boiler room wall is done on chipboard, and isn't very compact, but note the neatness of the install - everything is level and plumb, and easily accessible for maintenance.

Very convenient way of doing in-joist heating. The addition of plates not only gives us additional surface area for heat transfer to the floor above, but also decreases the time spent affixing the pipe, clip by clip, to the subfloor above.

These slightly more expensive but very handy fittings have saved me a great deal of time effecting a repair to a damaged pipe. The half-moon tool shown here allows you to easily undo the fitting if it doesn't seal properly the first time.
